Electric Youth. ¬†The name¬†just oozes 1980s, doesn’t it? ¬†From the twinkling synth lead-in to the drippy, whispery female vocal outro, their first single Innocence¬†gives you nothing BUT. ¬†It’s¬†as much of an homage to the neon decade¬†as M83’s recent 2 full lengths or the Drive soundtrack (of which they contributed with “A Real Hero”, arguably the best song used in the film). ¬†The lyrics (shooting stars, rain falling, voices calling), the soft porn guitar leads and that f-ing unforgettable synth bass…this is a band that is not afraid of tackling over-the-top cheese and making it lovable all over again. ¬†Just look at that album cover, man!

For $26, you get the record, the 7” and the CD. ¬†Who knows…maybe they’ll throw in a pack of Bonkers and some roller skates. ¬†Dream big.
