NOTE (1): TWO other variants are also available outside of this 25 on Blue/Black Splatter (read below)!!

NOTE (2): “AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST… FOR THOSE THAT ORDER TODAY (March 23rd) – THERE WILL BE SOME RANDOM INSERTS INTO THE RECORD SLEEVES.”

It wasn’t long ago that we brought you our first introduction to the small-label output of Alabama Astronaut. Today marks even more progress!! ..and we’re stoked!!

As was the same with our first post, this one focuses yet again on the creativity of Mobile, AL’s 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. These guys are absolutely superb in creating a meandering dream of a journey with their unique collective of sounds. This record encompasses elements of psych, dixieland jazz, surf, and sea shanty folk with the occasional vocal infusion which feels so reminiscent of Isaac Brock in the early days of Modest Mouse. Quite honestly, the exploration with this band doesn’t feel like much of a stone’s throw from the adventurous and, at least at the time, “oddball” sound that Modest Mouse was developing. It’s this uniqueness that brings such a refreshing quality to the forceful sonic output of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. And trust me, this stuff couldn’t come from anywhere but the sincerest of individuals as I’ve just never heard anything like it. Its simply a fun exploration in sound that doesn’t seem to want to ever be classified by a genre. Who doesn’t love that?

With this release you’ve got some options, some of which will be gone QUICK!

$20 – Only 25 copies are available on Blue/Black Splatter. This is also the only variant that comes w/ a unique vintage photograph “doodled on” and signed by Nemo Simulacra (the heart of 20000 Leagues Under The Sea).

200003

$15 – An additional 75 copies come on Mixed Colored vinyl. These DO NOT include the vintage photo but are still REALLY cool looking and probably even rarer than the 25 given the randomness involved here!
