RIYL: The Wombats, Phoenix, Foals, The Vaccines
Label: Prolifica Inc. / PIAS
Two Door Cinema Club is paying homage to Bowie in their energetic, beat forward way on their most recent album, False Alarm, due out June 21st from the new label, Prolifica Inc. (in conjunction with PIAS), after parting ways with Parlophone. Experimenting with a pop sensibility, False Alarm filter’s the band’s sound through a playful lens, while adding to the mix synth and 80’s sound, inspired by the likes of Talking Head and Bowie, and a slightly different direction from their previous releases, presumable because of their history and drive to push the boundaries of pop.
“Bowie’s death was a huge wake-up call to me, that we lost one of those amazing guys and it suddenly hit me that no one’s pushing that boundary anymore, so I thought maybe we could do that”.
Check out Warnerchappell.com for an excellent write up on how the band ended up where they are now, and putting out this album.
