RIYL: Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond Jr, Nikolai Fraiture, Nick Valensi, Fabrizio Moretti

Label: RCA / Cult Records

With exception to 2016’s Future Past Present EP, New York City’s Fab Five haven’t put out a full-length studio endeavor since 2013’s Comedown Machine. In between that time, Albert put out two records, Julian put out two records with The Voidz, Nick Valensi’s side project CRX put out two records and even Nikolai cranked one out with Summer Moon. Uhhh, hey Fabrizio…whatchu doin’, dude?…besides aging like a fine cabernet, of course. At any rate, the stars have aligned and the boys are back in town. This is IT. The mf-ing STROKES are back with album number six titled The New Abnormal.

Check out the first single At The Door below. The mix of 80s synths and classical chord structure remind me of Julian Casablanca’s Phrazes era. And I’m not complaining! Check out the Don Bluth-inspired music video for the track below and let the hype seep into your pores. The band’s pic disc variant can be purchased after the ‘buy’ link. There’s also an ‘indie exclusive’ red vinyl variant available at your favorite online distros like Rough Trade. If any new variants pop up, feel free to leave them in the comments.
