RIYL: The Mary Onettes, Wild Nothing, Korallreven

Label: self-released

Beloved Swedish indie rock darlings The Radio Dept have adorned many mix tapes and love letters since they arrived in the mid-90s, blending icy production, shoegazey guitar and hazy synth tones with a twee pop earnestness. I Don’t Need Love, I’ve Got My Band includes two of their most classic recordings, 2003’s Pulling Our Weight EP and 2005’s This Past Week EP, now with new cover art. Widely known for their inclusion in the soundtrack to Sofia Coppola’s film Marie Antoniette, the tracks Pulling Our Weight and I Don’t Like It Like This have long been fan favorites, quintessential Radio Dept dream pop.

By some strange madness, these EPs were never released on vinyl.  Until now.  The band has 500 copies of the reissue on clear vinyl and they’re going quick.  There are just over 140 copies from the point of this write-up.  They will sell out, you will be upset if you don’t get one, Yankees will pay more because they’ll be shipping from the UK.  Listen to both EPs below.
