Pretty neat stuff, folks – Newbury Comics is releasing a limited edition of The Front Bottoms’ second album, which is really the one that got me into their signature stylings. How can you not, when the first song is a condescending conversation of people breaking up in multiple languages? Angsty, fun, polished, it’s really great. They do a fantastic job at alternating between super personal and super inane throughout the album. Tops for me are “Au Revoir”, “Twin Size Mattress”, and “Funny You Should Ask”. Check em out, before this release goes Adios.
A Newbury Comics exclusive color vinyl pressing.
At the core of the Front Bottoms new album Talon of the Hawk, is the crazy hybrid of slamming rock drumming and acoustic guitar The Front Bottoms are known for, but this time the band augments their sound with electric guitars, synths, even a little accordion. Over top is Brian Sella’s confident heartfelt vocals that will have you laughing one minute, crying the next and then maybe pumping your fist and singing along when you least expect it. Talon of the Hawk, rocks harder than their debut and it is more complex in both subject matter and arrangements. Once this sucker gets it’s claws in you’re going to soar.
Album includes a digital download.
