RIYL: Clinic, Gardens and Villa
Label: Secretly Canadian
Within seconds of Suuns’ newest single Watch You, Watch Me, it’s pretty clear that they’re exploring new territory. Always experimenting with new sounds, it’s apparent that they’ve thrown the traditional guitar path out the window and opted for some synthy futurama chic.  Ben Shemie’s robotic vocals sound like a cross between Tom Fec (Tobacco, Black Moth Super Rainbow) and Ade Blackburn (Clinic), a deceptively catchy choice that has me smashing the repeat button.
Felt marks Suuns’ 5th studio release and, if you’ve come alongside his ever-expanding eclectic journey thus far, you’re bound to love it. Secretly Canadian has some limited edition clear vinyl copies after the ‘buy’ link. No quantity announced, but I imagine there are quite a few. Check out the music video to Watch You, Watch Me below.
It’s a suitably outré image for Felt, which breaks with Suuns’ earlier darkness for a more optimistic ambience. The record’s playful atmosphere is echoed by its double meaning title. “Some people might think of the material,” muses Ben. “I like that that could be misconstrued. Also it’s to have felt and not to feel – a little introspective, but that feeling’s in the past.”
