Such Hounds. SUCH HOUNDS!!!!!!!!!

After discovering these guys back in February 2014 through a simple Bandcamp dig, us folks here at Sly fell in love with Such Hounds… to put it lightly. Now, amid working up to a brand new full-length, we’ve got a nice taste of what’s to come through this 7″ teaser. With Such Hounds, it’s always a party. I once spoke to a fine gentlemen you all know well by the name Dave Hampton about visiting Austin, TX someday. As he put it, “we’ll paint the town red.” When I consider this adventure, I can’t help but think of the explosively invigorating energy that Such Hounds puts forth.  Every jam outta these guys is a raging good time riddled with that anthemic build so common of those nights you’ll never forget. Those nights when you’ve conquered it all… only to potentially forget when you wake up wondering… “wtf happened last night?” Good news is we can hit repeat with Such Hounds!! It’s hard not to grow addicted to Such Hounds when they’re energy is a sonic reminder of beer-clinking, laughter-filled rooms with folks you never want to forget spending a moment of time with when the world was entirely free and you stood on top of it all. At Sly? We love that.

Stay tuned, we’ll be hearing more from the fine fellas of Such Hounds in DUE TIME!!

“Well, I wake up every morning, and I drink myself to sleep,” sing Americana-punk revivalists Such Hounds in their brand-new track, “Drink To Sleep.” The song — which sounds like a sped-up Weakerthans plea — is what coming-of-age tales are made of: There’s pain, regret, and self-medicating, isolation, and other growing-up maladies. It all comes wrapped up tight in sweetly melodic guitar riffs, thick bass, and a rumbling, fist-in-the-air crescendo. – Rachel Brodsky of SPIN

“Some say it sounds like Tom Petty snorkeling in bong water, but maybe it’s Tom Petty snorkeling in Budweiser, it really depends on the song. Like Petty, Such Hounds show a dedication to crafted, catchy songwriting propelled by the pursuit of a better time and a “fuck the world” attitude to getting older.”

New York, NY— There comes a point in life when being young, broke and on your own seeps into normality. History is all you have connecting you with the past and the road ahead is full of holes so you hang on to the sights in the rear-view, the nights when things felt alright and the days when you cared just a little bit more. Such Hounds know this all too well and they stamp their own vulnerability and desolation over the songs they write, recalling the same young-and-stoned-and-empty feelings. Some say it sounds like Tom Petty snorkeling in bong water, but maybe it’s Tom Petty snorkeling in Budweiser, it really depends on the song. Like Petty, Such Hounds show a dedication to crafted, catchy songwriting propelled by the pursuit of a better time and a "fuck the world" attitude to getting older.
