RIYL: Divine Fits, Guided By Voices, The Replacements

Label: Matador

Britt and the boys are back. Ten tracks deep, their 10th album is titled Lucifer on the Sofa and is the first rekkid in over a decade recorded in their hometown of Austin. When asked what to expect of this new endeavor, Britt Daniels said it’s “the sound of classic rock as written by a guy who never did get Eric Clapton.” The way I see it, whether you enjoyed Clapton’s stuff or not, chances are high that you’re gonna enjoy a Spoon album. One of the most dependable indie rock bands of my lifetime, the fellas have been cranking out post-punk fueled rock and roll for over 25 years. How many classic albums do they have now? 7? 26? Who knows, who cares, shut up and buy the damn thing.

The dinked edition is going fast despite the heftier price tag. Only 500 copies of those, and they come with a signed poster and an exclusive flexi. The ‘buy’ link will be updated when the dinked copies sell out. There’s also a quad-color variant you can grab straight from Matador HERE and Bandcamp HERE. UK shoppers, grab the tri-color Spotify variant HERE. Check out the video for The Hardest Cut below and get some hype in your veins.

UPDATE – Dinked editions appear to be all sold out now. Buy link has been updated to the Matador store.
