RIYL: Deerhunter, Forth Wanderers, No Age

Label: Saddle Creek

Experimental indie rock staples Spirit of the Beehive have been justly recognized as your favorite band’s favorite band since their 2018 breakout album Hypnic Jerks, but they were a fully-realized unit since their debut in 2014. Quietly but steadily, their hybrid of melody and noise has crept into collector forums and music sites, expanding on their sound and perspective with each new full-length. This year, their fifth LP titled Entertainment, Death will be released into the world, an experience practically opposite of their recording process with Hypnic. Recorded remotely over the course of four months with the addition of new members, the album will feature much more electronic instrumentation over the guitar and bass indie rock construct.

Check out the first single below and check out Saddle Creek’s vinyl variants after the ‘buy’ link. The first to sell out will undoubtedly be the tan and jade swirl colorway bundled with two autographed art prints. I doubt those last through the end of the day.
