Welcome back from the jungle that can be Record Store Day and I hope you had a happy Easter. I noticed many of my fellow writers (along with my boss) spent beaucoup money on box sets and singles alike – some are even paying to have foreign-exclusive releases shipped to them, and we all know how dreadful international shipping can be. To put a stop to the tears their bank accounts are shedding right now, I’ll be shining a light on this $5 7″.  Orca Orca is the dream pop project of one Jimmy Hewitt, based out of Massachusetts. In a very Jack White fashion, this EP went from being recorded in one day in December of last year to being released last month. According to the Orca Orca Facebook page, at least a quarter have already been sold. According to the Bandcamp page, there are two vinyl-only bonus tracks to boot – as if you needed more motivation to buy the vinyl, right? What you’re going to get, in a nutshell, is dream pop that wears its influences on its sleeve. Check out The Shallows below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
