Something unique about Brad Oberhofer’s voice is that he tends to sound slightly foreign (a la Scandinavia), as if English was not his first language but the problem is he’s from Washington so that is probably not the case. The A-Side, “Away Frm U,” is one of his first singles, and what helped him to break through to a larger audience via a label signing with Inflated Records then White Iris and eventually Glassnote (the label of Childish Gambino, CHVRCHES, Phoenix, and more). “Dead Girls Dance,” the B-Side, sounds especially surfy with its fast and pounding riff bursts and sunny drum fills; an eerie characteristic to this track though is the siren-like vocal drones Oberhofer performs near the end. Hear both singles below via the YouTube videos and see what you think of them. Cheers!
