Montreal 4-piece No Joy have glossed together their third full-length for Mexican Summer, and their pop-gaze sound is as shimmery as ever.  Laura Lloyd’s heavy fuzz pedals have been pushed a bit further beneath the cavernous vocal harmonies and reverberating beachside guitar lead, but they’re still as immediate as they were on their debut Ghost Blonde in 2010.

Everything New‘s melody is so infectious and positive, it’s impossible not to sing along despite the deeply melancholic lyrics.  Jasamine White-Gluz’s delivery is pure silk, a heavier Harriet Wheeler…a rawer Mazzy Star.

Mexican Summer rarely delivers limited vinyl, so get this one while the gettin can get got.  Go.
