Once November 20th hits, we’ll be able to listen to Media Jeweler’s debut, $99 R/T Hawaii. A lot of us would probably give a limb, or even a non-vital organ, to have a vacation right now (our boss is in a tropical paradise right now – I’m jelly), much less have a $99 round trip ticket to Hawai’i. Media Jeweler offers a substitute to escaping to a picturesque mythical island since not many of us will run in to an opportunity like that for the time being. Pitchfork calls this a “true fiesta for the ears.” There’s absolutely no singing on “Autopilot,” the lone track we have available from this forthcoming LP. The use of erratic trumpeting that storms in, in the beginning and near the end, throws some habaneros in to an already heart attack inducing salsa. You’ll want to bring this out whenever you feel like you’re on top of the world and the sun is shining. Listen to “Autopilot” below via the Spotify player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
EDIT: There’s another track available I wasn’t aware of – “Passport Invalid.” Check out the YouTube video for it below.
Debut LP from Santa Ana, CA based Media Jeweler. "$99 R/T Hawaii” aims to capture the relentless restlessness of being alive on this increasingly weird and overstimulating planet. It was recorded and mixed in a casual and really quite nice three-day session during the dawn of spring at Machines with Magnets by Seth Manchester and Keith Souza (Battles, Lightning Bolt, etc.). It was mastered a week later by XOQ (Liars, Factory Floor, Martin Gore, etc.).
