RIYL: Copeland, Sherwood, Anberlin

Mae is back, biotches! After 6 years of no releases (and a ‘Farewell and Good Night’ tour that yours truly went to) Mae plants their feet back on solid ground with two tracks recorded in Nashville during 2016. This sees them return to classic Mae form, especially on the track “Our Love is a Painted Picture”, where Elkins croons about said these lovely painted pictures “A room in my mind is where I find those portraits of before // And the way they’re tossed they make me think I’m lost // When I see them scattered on the floor”. The song takes a meandering journey through self-deprecation and layered voices battling it out to be heard, and is a beautiful return to glory.

Check out the song, put it on repeat, and head over to their store: only 1500 total vinyl (with a glow in the dark one!!!) from one of the most influential bands from my earlier years.
