“Surf, sex, sludge and garbage” adorns Guantanamo Baywatch’s genre profile on their Facebook page.  The incredibly named Portland trio have been cranking out scuzzy surf pop, dirty doo wop and tarting up your grandpa’s rock and roll since 2010.  2015 will see their third full-length Darling…It’s Too Late, their first LP on Suicide Squeeze Records, and I can only assume that they’ll continue to tamper with rock music’s adolescent years and throw Elvis, Dick Dale and the rest of ’em into headlocks while pouring beers over their greasy scalps.
First single Too Late features Curtis Harding as a guest vocal, and sounds like the perfect slow number to crank up at the drive-in while you inch across second base with your main squeeze. Â There’s a bit extra hot sauce on here, though, in typical Guantanamo Baywatch style. Â You’re getting the golden age of rock and roll, but it’s pureed and thrown into a batch of pot brownies. Â There’s even a Boyz II Men-style “Hey girl…” monologue to bring it all home.
1000 of these puppies have been pressed to vinyl, and while that isn’t exactly a scarcity, the first 150 pre-orders come with a folded 11×17 poster.
The LP is available in a limited pressing of 1,000 copies on Peaches-and-Cream color vinyl.
A digital download card for MP3 is included.
Pre-order will ship on May 1, 2015.
