With a racy name in tow, San Francisco’s Nate Luce, with his girlfriend Anna Fusco and ex-Girls guitarist John Anderson, is back after a couple of years with a new single on Fire Talk. The mood of the 60s & 70s is revived in this song, bringing to mind Foxygen and, well, Girls. Subtle lo-fi acoustic guitar work, minimal background instrumentation and tired/sleepy “naked” vocal work abound on “Our Song” with Luce talking about missing a certain somebody and the monotony of his city life. The cover to this single is a little strange and in a way anachronistic. The closer, “Stranded,” showcases the trio’s vocals with a droning robotic presentation and sparse bursts of subdued guitar. Listen to “Our Song” and “Stranded” via the Bandcamp stream and see what you think of it. Cheers!
