Polyvinyl Record Co. has got a Black Friday sale going on and they’ve uncovered numerous limited and out of print releases that are either dirt cheap or on discount. One of these happens to be this collaborative 7″ between Busdriver and Deerhoof, and Regan Farquhar shows he can belt it on the A-Side “I Did Crimes Behind Your Eyelids” and on the B-Side “On The Brink,” which is one of the first songs to premiere from Busdriver’s new project Physical Forms. “On The Brink” has mild ska elements, and showcases a booming percussion section – a very fun and colorful song. It’s been over three years since this song came out so perhaps Physical Forms are at work on something special? “I Did Crimes Behind Your Eyelids” showcases Farquhar singing with Satomi Matsuzaki backing and it could very well fit among the Deerhoof canon. Check out both songs below via the YouTube videos and see what you think of them. Cheers!
From the mind of Regan Farquhar comes this unique collaboration with Deerhoof.
Farquhar, better known as Busdriver, is an LA-based MC who has released several albums on ANTI-. He has also collaborated with Aceyalone, Abstract Rude, and Boom Bip.
Side A of Hoofdriver features Farquhar singing over a Deerhoof instrumental track and Side B showcases Farquhar's latest project, Physical Forms, which features members of The Mae Shi.
The 7" is the first of a possible series of Deerhoof 7"s featuring guest vocalists singing self-composed lyrics and new vocal melodies over music composed by Deerhoof. The B-side will feature exclusive tracks from the vocalist's band.
