Is this the first ska post we’ve made at Sly? ¬†Perhaps. ¬†Most of the ska groups we know from its peak comeback in the late 90s have burned out or faded into obscurity, but a few of them have soldiered on and remained relevant. ¬†Citizen Fish is one of them, and have been¬†making politically-charged ska punk for the last 25 years. ¬†Over a dozen albums in now, Madmade is¬†yet another reminder that they ain’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Their influences range from The Clash to the¬†Specials to the Kingston cats in the 60s that started this whole scene. ¬†If you dig the¬†brass and guitar combo, give this one a listen. ¬†Personally, I never got too into the genre, but Citizen Fish’s cockney delivery¬†give them a snarlier, rougher-around-the-edges vibe. ¬†Track 5 on this mini-album 10″ is especially dubby and drugged out, so snag a copy if you’re into it.
