Is this the first ska post we’ve made at Sly?  Perhaps.  Most of the ska groups we know from its peak comeback in the late 90s have burned out or faded into obscurity, but a few of them have soldiered on and remained relevant.  Citizen Fish is one of them, and have been making politically-charged ska punk for the last 25 years.  Over a dozen albums in now, Madmade is yet another reminder that they ain’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Their influences range from The Clash to the Specials to the Kingston cats in the 60s that started this whole scene.  If you dig the brass and guitar combo, give this one a listen.  Personally, I never got too into the genre, but Citizen Fish’s cockney delivery give them a snarlier, rougher-around-the-edges vibe.  Track 5 on this mini-album 10″ is especially dubby and drugged out, so snag a copy if you’re into it.
