RIYL: The Bicycle Thief, Thelonious Monster
Label: Greenway Records
The great LA legend Bob Forrest has a resumé that would make most most of us blush.  He was a key ingredient in the LA scene in the 1980s, sharing the stage with The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction, Fishbone, Guns ‘N Roses and many more. He fronted Thelonious Monster, one of the most criminally underrated groups to come out of LA in the 80s and 90s, he survived an absolutely bonkers smack addiction and now counsels other folks with the same afflictions.  Needless to say, he has a lot to share in his music and has lived through practically everything.  A more honest songwriter I have heard not.
Greenway Records has produced a truly special live album with acoustic renditions of some of Bob’s best work, playing alongside past and present bandmates. Â It’s a celebration of life and survival. Â If you’re as overjoyed as I am that Bob Forrest is still on this spinning rock with us, pick this record up. Â It’s on gorgeous splatter vinyl and limited to only 200 copies.
