While we’re on that whole ‘making lists’ kick, I’d like to throw Felte¬†into my top 10 record labels from the year. ¬†Closely tied to another favorite label, Ghostly International, Felte produces rich ambient and indie rock bands inspired by the Joy Divisions, The Cures, The Wires and all of the post-punk albums sitting on your record shelves. ¬†There isn’t one Felte release that I haven’t¬†loved immediately, and Sydney-based duo Au.Ra are no exception.

Jane’s Lament‘s influences range from shoegaze to downtempo to dream pop, melding layers of Cocteau Twins-tinged guitar, drum kicks¬†smothered in reverb and a hefty supply of feedback and noise singing over the grooves.

Felte’s prices are always affordable,¬†so your depleted Christmas savings won’t nosedive into the red. ¬†Have a Merry Christmas, boys and girls, and dream of sugar plums and 180-grams tonight. ¬†xoxo
