RIYL: Panda Bear, Avey Tare, LCD Soundsystem
My favorite thing about Animal Collective is certainly their live show. And then my second favorite thing is their expansive live vinyl boxsets.
I’m not quite sure what’s up with this one as the listing has a 2017 copyright release date for it. But this also might be new old stock of the 2015 release. This listing is noticeably more affordable than a used copy of this release.
So have at it, or shout at me in the comments that you’ve had this forever already. Either way, there’s someone out there who’s happy to be ordering this at a decent price.
Triple (3xLP) vinyl release boxset. The box set includes:
- each vinyl comes in their own printed inner die cut sleeve
- a fold out 18āx23ā of the original 9:30 Club show poster
- a hand-numbered outer box
FIRST FULL-LENGTH RELEASE OF A SINGLE LIVE RECORDING FROM MARYLAND/NYC/LISBON FREAKS. The waxing & waning ranks of Animal Collective have long used their extensive touring schedule as an opportunity to test and perfect new & unheard material for their next record, and have been opponents of using live shows as opportunities to "show up and play the hits". On Live At 9:30, they flip the script and dive head first into their extensive catalog of fan favorites for an intimate performance at Washington D.C.'s historic 9:30 venue. Highlights include "My Girls" and "Brothersport" from Merriweather Post Pavilion, "Did You See The Words" and "The Purple Bottle" from Feels, "Peacebone" from Strawberry Jam and the Grateful Dead-sampling "What Would I Want? Sky" from Fall Be Kind. Strictly limited edition of 2000 in a hand-numbered triple LP boxset.
