RIYL: The Radio Dept, Jens Lekman, Foxes in Fiction
No, that’s not HTML code there. ¬†Swiss synth pop duo a=f/m is releasing their newest full-length titled Download. ¬†Look at that album cover! ¬†So good. ¬†This is definitely in the running for the most postmodern release I’ve seen this year, but don’t let that distract you from the music. ¬†These tunes are a double dose of dopamine straight to your heart, bursting with sweeping synth leads and heavenly harmonies.
Samuel Savenberg’s voice remind me of The Radio Dept in the way he’s able to emote with restraint. ¬†Almost-whispered but articulate and full, Samuel adds a refreshing balance to Belia Winnewisser’s angelic vocal performance. ¬†Musically, these tracks¬†are as smooth as polished stones, pulsating with bouncing synths to striking pianos. ¬†I’m very curious what the rest of the album will sound like, but if it’s anything like these first two singles, it’s going to be one of my favorites of the year. ¬†Solid stuff!
