Spring Break Tapes keeps dropping quality material, at low low prices, in to our undeserving laps. Their latest release is an instrumental hip-hop compilation, featuring the likes of label residents Junior Pande (Justin Peroff of Broken Social Scene/Eight and a Half) and Bugseed. As far as I know, there’s only one track available to listen to at the moment which happens to be Dr. Quandary’s “Audrey Horne.” “Audrey Horne” is named after the aloof, yet charming, character in David Lynch’s cult TV series, Twin Peaks, and the short track samples one of her lines from the show. If “Audrey Horne,” and the rest of the artists’ history, tells us anything, we should expect this to be chock full with dreamy beat music. This “genre” if you will has been climbing and climbing since the mid-late 00s and [adult swim] granting it exposure in their infamous bumps may have given beat music a boost. One more thing – there’s two different album covers. Listen to “Audrey Horne” below via the SoundCloud stream and see what you think of it. Cheers!
