Loden, a Dutch producer, blends bright and colorful IDM and hip-hop on his latest release The Star-Eyed Condition, which is out now on Circle Into Square. Underground rappers such as Open Mike Eagle, Busdriver, Doseone, and Sole offer forth their wordsmithery for Loden to showcase over his wild beats. Whenever a guest appears on this album, he’ll craft the title around the guest instead of saying “Insert Title (feat. blahblahblah)” which is a bit clever and something I can’t say I’ve seen before. What you’ll get on The Star-Eyed Condition is some euphoric and sometimes house-driven trackwork that will keep your attention and, of course, very entertained. On “About Busdriver with Colors” it even sounds like it has Loden sampling from early Matthew Dear on one of the hook layers but sadly I’m (irritatingly) just drawing a blank on the song name right now. Nevertheless, check out the Bandcamp player below and see what you think of it – especially if you like Blue Sky Black Death’s Noir. Cheers!

Figured I’d come back and give a bit of closure on the song I was blanking on. It was actually The Juan Maclean’s Acid Overhaul Dub Mix of Pom Pom which is actually off of Asa Breed which actually… isn’t so old.
