RIYL: Lo-Fi | Psych-Hop Beats | Instrumentals
Label: Paxico Records
Charlotte psych hop duo Dirty Art Club have been creating crate-digging beats for the better part of a decade now, but two out of the four full-lengths they’ve put out were made in 2020, the delectably dusty Gardens and now FMTI released back in October. Like its predecessor, FMTI glides through a smooth cocktail of eclectic genres and lays ’em over hip hop beats, from library jazz to lounge to psych pop to soul. Lofi charm and well-crafted melodies here, ladies and gentlemen. It’s a treasure trove for any collector with an ear for obscure samples and thoughtful design.
Paxico Records had initially sold out of a previous pressing, but due to the growing demand for Dirty Art Club’s releases, they’ve created new cover and new colorways for a second go-around. Check out a handful of tracks below and catch some vibes. The limited ‘black cat whirlpool’ variant as well as an orange slab can be purchased after the ‘buy’ link. They’re all sold out on their Bandcamp page, so I wouldn’t wait too long!
