RIYL: Sabbath riffs, Afro beats

Label: Riding Easy Records

Chico and Geoff Mann, Rich Panta and JP Maramba swung for the fences last year with their ferocious debut album, a sharp left hook into the heart of garage and psych rock.  Combining hesher riffage with loin-thrusting afro beats, Here Lies Man sounded refreshingly singular and important to rock and roll.  Barely a year later, we’ve got the sophomore album and you better believe I instabought the hell out of it.  If you love Iommi, Fela, jazz fusion and everything in between, Here Lies Man is your ticket to tranquility.

If you don’t need the extra booklet with the deluxe package, the clear vinyl, limited to 300 copies, is available for $20.  Same music, right?  And if you’re quick draw, grab a hand-stamped test pressing (pictured below), limited to a mere 30 copies, right HERE.  Those will go fast.
