RIYL: Black Sabbath, Electric Wizard, Sleep

Label: Grimtale Records

Since the dawn of distortion, the words ‘doom’ and ‘metal’ were meant for each other.  Jeff Owens, Nick Lose and Ben Clarkson know this well and swing their mighty 6-string axes as the stoned-out sludgy 3-piece we know as GOYA.  On this day, the last black sabbath of May, Goya has teamed up with microlabel Grimtale Records for a special one-off pressing of two of their tracks from Obelisk, already a big favorite among their fans.

Obelisk is a slow-burner prog piece that builds into a volcanic eruption of whammy bars and high-reaching guitar slaying while The Sun packs a bit more aggression, stampeding along a trail of distortion like a swarm of starving behemoths in search for blood.

The variant and test press options are long gone, unfortunately, but you can still grab a copy of their ‘obelisk black’ colorway for a cool $8.  Only 100 of those are available, and they will be gone soon, so get on it!  Check out the two tracks below.
