RIYL: Zola Jesus, King Woman, Esben and the Witch

Label: Sargent House

The siren of sludge.  The monarch of melancholia.  The woeful Wolfe is back.  And judging by that lighthearted album cover pictured above, it’s safe to say that she hasn’t written us a pop album.

Hiss Spun marks Chelsea Wolfe’s sixth proper full-length, her follow-up to 2015’s crushingly heavy Abyss, and first single 16 Psyche reveals that she still finds solace in the dense waters of gothic folk and metal, marrying the two styles into a sound all her own.  And then there’s her vocal performance, always electrifying and powerful enough to penetrate the heaviest walls of guitar fuzz.

Sargent House has revealed that there are 1500 copies each of their two available color variants, but there will also be another variant limited to just 1000.  Fans are speculating that this is a tour version, so keep your eyes peeled for it!  In the meantime, grab one of the available variants before they’re gone…and they will be…soon…

UPDATE – There appears to be some another ‘indie exclusive’ variant on oxblood and black wax that you can get HERE or at your local record store.  No word on quantity for this pressing yet.
