If I could describe the post-9/11¬†climate¬†on my college campus in 2002, a fervent tug of war between dread and optimism, I’d simply play …And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead’s magnum opus Source, Tags & Codes. ¬†A mix of post-hardcore noise (It Was There That I Saw You,¬†Homage, Days Of Being Wild) and melodic art rock (Another Morning Stoner, Heart in the Hand of the Matter,¬†Relative Ways), they captured the confusion that was stirring in the breeze and articulated it by screaming into the heavens. ¬†Anyone remember seeing them perform Relative Ways on Conan and smash their gear to bits¬†at the end? ¬†Still gives me chills.
The blue wax sold out super quick yesterday on the Trail of Dead online store, but there are still copies at The Sound of Vinyl after the ‘buy’ link. ¬†No idea how many are left, so get on it if you want a copy. ¬†If those sell out before you’re able to buy one, the band will be putting up 15 more copies on their store at 1:50 PST HERE.
