Allium canadense, also known as meadow garlic or a wild onion, is a vegetable that belongs in the ‘a little bit country, a little bit rock n roll’ aisle at the local produce store.  It’s the best of both worlds for onion and garlic lovers alike.  In other words, your guacamole is in for a real f-ing treat.

Twin Peaks (the BAND, mind you) works along the same lines.  On the surface, they appear to be a good ol-fashioned rock n roll band spawned from an oily garage.  When you peel apart those leaves, though, you hear hints of all kinds of influences.  Clay Frankel emits a shapeshifter vocal that morphs from a cool Elvis Costello into an early 70s peanut-buttery James Osterberg.  “I Found A New Way” grooves with the swagger of The Stones’ golden age while “Flavor” takes on an outlaw country flavor with a hint of old soul.  I’ve listened to these two tracks so much today that I’m already callin my friends to meet up at the nearest dive bar.

First 100 preorders get a pack of custom rolling papers and a 12×12 print signed by the band.  Righteous.

The Details

Twin Peaks’ second album Wild Onion (out on Grand Jury) is like a modern day Nuggets, with Black Lips, Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall curating instead of Lenny Kaye. Not literally, of course. But the spirit of those garage demigods is alive and well alongside subtle nods to everything from the Pixies and Tame Impala to the godfathers of guitar-guided pop music, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Beach Boys.

The first pressing of Wild Onion vinyl is limited and comes on beautiful “opaque grimace purple and bone” vinyl. Available only via the Team Peax webstore or your local record shop. The first 100 preorders will receive a pack of custom Twin Peaks “Flavor” rolling papers. The first 100 preorders will receive a 12x12 digital print, autographed by the band. Anyone that preorders the album will receive an instant download of the album track, ‘Flavor’ upon checkout and will be able to sign back into their store account on release day (8/5/14) to access a full album download.
