Vancouverites and Hardly Artists Dizzy Eyes are on hiatus after only releasing this 7″ and a demo. I’ve just now stumbled upon this band, to be honest, so I have no idea how long this hiatus has actually been in effect. Perhaps a band member or a fan can fill us in on the situation? On Hardly Art‘s biography of the band, it mentions that Alejandro Constanzo (the vocalist (who faintly reminds me of Dave Portner/Avey Tare) and guitarist) had to leave the country after his application of residence was withdrawn. Perhaps it was a bit (intentionally) prophetic of them to have their lead single be titled “Let’s Break Up The Band.” On this thing you’ll find bright poppy garage rock on the first two songs “Let’s Break Up The Band” and “Ay!,” and a shoegaze tinge on the last track “Sugar Cain.” Marissa Johnson and Alejandro Constanzo have great synergy as vocalists and Jordan Gervais’ drumming is crisp and clean. Listen to this 7″ below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
