I’ve been following Savaging Spires since their beautiful self titled debut vinyl. This 11 song vinyl is some kind of in between record before their second full length record will arrive later this year. there are still some of these fine limited EPs left. so get in now, before it’s too late. There is a lot going on in their songs and even everything is played very gentle and hushed. It becomes some sort of psychedelic folk in the end that would fit perfectly on the sadly on hold Time Lag records. Listen to the 7 minute “We Could Be Dead (Together)” if you’re a fan of hazed layered folk.
“Recorded more or less live, the strung-out near-to-seven minutes of the titular cut suggests that the next long-player could be an even more layered and improvised affair, taking Espers-like acid-frazzling into MV & EEâs deepest rustic dronescaping whilst remaining rooted in distinctively arcane olde English eeriness. In its wake, the ensuing stream of home-baked demos, outtakes and experimental detours flows with remarkable fluidity. Itâs all hallucinogenic and sometimes disorientating stuff, with vocals often buried or distorted in the mix and instrumental lattices twisted and frayed.” DOA – for the love of music.
This ltd edition new release is strictly limited to 200, hand numbered, copies on 12" LP
