A beautiful new record from Nick Jonah Davis on Lancashire and Somerset records, who brought us records from Daniel Bachman or Kogumaza. House Of Dragons is the second record i know from Nick Jonah Davis after his “Of Time And Tides’ Guitar Recordings Vol II” on Tompkins Square. If you like¬†primitive american guitar in the likes of Jack Rose, you should definitely give this a spin. It’s one of the most beautiful fingerpicking releases i heard in a while. i don’t know, if it will be available in the states, but as soon as i have more infos, i’ll post it here.
Nick‚Äôs music, which has been described as ‚Äėa¬†highly spirited series of wordless tales‚Äė, draws on the modal tunings and freewheeling spirit of British trailblazers such as Bert Jansch and Nick Drake, as well as pre-war blues and the ever deepening post-Takoma tradition.
Critically acclaimed as ‚Äėa formidable guitarist‚Äė, delivering ‚Äėa high-wire act that very few guitarists could pull off‚Äô, Nick has released two albums, including the critically acclaimed ‚ÄėOf Time and Tides‚Äô, with the seminal American label Tompkins Square Records. ¬†He was featured on the fourth volume of their ‚ÄėImaginational Anthem‚Äô compilation series as well as their Michael Chapman tribute album.
Nick has shared bills in the UK, Europe and the USA with the likes of Alasdair Roberts, James Blackshaw, Michael Chapman, C Joynes, Steffen Basho-Junghans, Jozef van Wissem, Alexander Turnquist, Max Ochs and Eric Carbonara. He performed at the 10th Annual New York Guitar Festival and continues to play shows in the UK and Europe.
