“Folktronica” is definitely a genre that sounds shaky on paper, but the concept has been executed quite well in practice. The genre really boomed in the early to mid 2000s, and since then you haven’t seen too many artists in the spotlight that produce music of the aforementioned persuasion. Portland’s Tom Filepp, in tandem with the release of his new EP Moon And The Earth, is re-issuing his debut full-length Rusty String on an ultra limited run of clear white vinyl – the album is as archetypal to the genre as you can get. This album soundtracks those cool and breezy afternoons after you get off work, or get out of school, and you just kick back, relax, and look outside to watch the flora and fauna… I’ll pretend people still do that instead of stare at a computer for relaxation. If you like what you hear, there are a few options to choose from – the price I’ve listed below is just for the LP. Check out the Bandcamp player below and see what you think of it. Cheers!
