Music is something that people often use to console themselves and/or escape from reality for a few minutes to numerous hours. Arma & Refusenik’s Kol Kas is an almost twenty minute ode to the extraterrestrial and the mysterious. Kol Kas is what space is, if you took a trip back to the dawn of synth music back in the 70s/80s. This song/album meander between the abstract, ambience, drone and new age. As Kol Kas drones onward, it gets even more spacious and strange. Kol Kas definitely puts the listener in more of an observing position rather than a participatory one. You watch behind the glass as Arma & Refusenik work their magic and cry out to the life beyond the stars we can see. The atmosphere Arma & Refusenik manage to create on this tape is further amplified by the medium it was released on. Listen to Kol Kas below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
