Zzzzra, a dub techno producer, and The Marx Trukker, a dabbler in deep house, IDM and other things electronic, dropped this single back in August which I totally forgot to write up until now and luckily for us, they still have copies. Each single is gorgeous in its own way. The Marx Trukker’s “Just Another Inharmonic Heartbreaker” will remind you of DJ Sprinkles’ landmark track “Midtown 120 Blues” and its woozy synthetic string chords which sound like they’re submerged in an ocean provide a disorienting spin on what’s supposed to be regarded as a “smooth” song in regard to genre tropes. Zzzzra’s “La Grosse Flemme (C’est Magique)” is good old dub techno, but with what sounds like reversed rooster crows, rainy background noise and random splashes of men shouting, it gives off the impression of a Deep Forest track – something cosmopolitan. This single gets two thumbs up from me, and I’ll be buying it. Shouts out to the Euro being almost on parity with our dollar at press time. Check out both tracks below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of them. Cheers!
