The blog¬†incubated and media shy SOPHIE is back with another single that’ll make you question whether somebody spiked your last drink or not. There’s not much information about him, and according to last.fm his name might be “Sam” and he’s from Scotland.¬†Disco Na√Įvet√©, after commenting on BIPP when it first appeared, instilled my doubt that SOPHIE was a woman like the saccharine, elastic vocals and extensive press campaign pictures suggested – it seemed too obvious. As for his motive behind¬†having an unnamed blonde woman be the face of his image? Your guess is as good as mine.
Two out of his three¬†single covers have featured plastic-textured structures with vibrant colors, and like the woman, these embody what his material¬†sounds like. “Lemonade” and “Hard,” like SOPHIE’s past tracks, sound like he snorted, shot, smoked, gummed and swallowed every illicit substance he could get his hands on and these are his attempts to capture the hallucinations and chaos¬†he encountered while under the influence. As for the quantity, it’s not specified. Check out both tracks below and see what you think of them. Cheers!

SOPHIE returns with a new single of feisty, sugar-high bass contortions for Numbers. 'Lemonade' lurches between minimal blips and all out, maximal pop fireworks, its squeaky clean sound somehow making the whole thing more unpredictable and wild. Over on the flip 'Hard' is all toying vocals and sharp, candy-coloured edges, bass high kicks and glossy synths pulled into an excitable whole. Yet another knockout release from the producer.
