I’m willing to give any band a chance if they are signed to the beloved Captured Tracks label. ┬áThe past year has been especially kind to CT, with releases like Diiv’s “Oshin”, Wild Nothing’s “Nocturne” and Beach Fossils’ “Clash the Truth”.
While those 3 bands are the juggernauts of the label, Soft Metals are in the same boat, reflecting the same admiration their label has for those indie scenes we all wish we could have been a part of in the 80s and 90s. ┬áIt’s a melting pot of twee, indie rock, shoegaze and new wave. ┬áCaptured Tracks is that older kid down the street who turned you on to Chameleons UK and let you borrow that warped VHS copy of John Carpenter’s “They Live”.
So, Soft Metals. ┬áThink synths, whispy female vocals and ….ah, you’ve already got the picture.
