RIYL: Neon Indian's 'Psychic Chasms'
Picture The Rugrats immersed in a hallucinogenic stupor after accidentally ingesting some salvia plants in their background.  Imagine Sonic the Hedgehog running through a lake of ketamine.  You there?  Good.  Meet Graham Kartna.  He made 4 albums in 2015 alone and Shoot the Moons, his 8th full-length, is the first batch of songs that are getting the vinyl treatment.
Tracks like Camp Radley/Big Freaks and Xenia buzz and warble like your favorite 8-bit soundtracks or that first Casio keyboard you got for Christmas in 1989, but there’s a technique in Kartna’s rhythm that keeps the flow slightly off-kilter and interesting.  If my ears aren’t playing tricks on me, I think I even heard a fart sample in Boyo Sleep Rox.  Fans of Neon Indian’s debut record Psychic Chasms will find enough nostalgic sound bytes here to fill your entire closet of worn VHS tapes.
It’s not sedated enough to be vaporwave, so I think we have a brand new genre here.  We’ll call it caperwave ™.
