If you were oblivious to El Huervo you would think just the same that he was from South America and was a master at Mexican folk art, but in real life he actually hails from Sweden!

Yes, Swedish EDM artist Nicklas Åkerblad, aka “El Huervo,” is known for making the cover art for a Miami Hotline 1 & 2 as well as EDM Music, soundtracks, and even game designing. After starting his career as an artist and graphic designer, he began to step into the musical realm of EDM – specifically Chiptune, as well as Chillwave. The reason for chiptune was because of what many believed to be an inspiration after Miami Hotline and the various video game art designs he made, but what made him want to do Mexican folk art, or to choose the name El Huervo, is still a mystery to me.

El Huervo’s newest release Vandereer is now out on limited edition vinyl in a colorful Mexican folk art bundle.  This includes a choice between clear or black vinyl, if that’s not enough for you to buy it, it also comes with El Huervo’s beautifully designed slipmat, as well as an eight page art book displaying prints of El Huervo’s art!
