Happy Black Friday everybody and I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving yesterday if you celebrated it! I have a cassette for you courtesy of UK label Cong Burn Waves and this is a literal mixtape… as far as I know. The first volume in a (hopefully) continuing series, Cong Burn Waves draws on many sound sources and perhaps artists (?). The only common thread among all these tracks is that they were all recorded at four studios between 2013 and 2015. Cong Burn Tapes 01 is reminiscent of Lil Ugly Mane’s Three Sided Tape series as while it is a mixtape, there’s really no clear theme – it’s just a hodge podge of multiple songs bleeding in to each other at a moment’s notice. Despite this, the track order is coherent and works almost a bit too well as a collection of random recordings. Anyway, there’s only fifty of these and for ten-and-a-half bucks you get almost an hour of music. Listen to Cong Burn Tapes 01 below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!

--- OnoTesla Review ---

Wicked (?Mixtape?) of many sources of sound that traverse freely across many enjoyable frequencies. Covering all bases and really catching my ears as it moves from soundtrack style ambient synth passages into techno and all out drumkit rockband style tracks in the same way as any open minded dj might construct a mixtape in these modern times. Chester Le Street, Glasgow , Withington and Salford heads all getting their well earned spots on the tape.
