RIYL: Nihilism

Label: Dais Records

Rebellion Is Over was originally released on Wes Eisold’s record label/publishing house, Heartworm, as a cassette. This was recently re-issued in three different, and obviously quite limited, vinyl variants on Dais Records. Somehow, I totally missed this in my inbox until now. Wes Eisold hasn’t released a proper full-length Cold Cave record since 2011, leaving us with singles, albeit strong efforts – perhaps take this as a sign of him warming up to giving us another full-length? Genesis P-Orridge isn’t someone who needs an introduction, per se, but in case you’re not familiar with his/her name s/he (Genesis identifies as a third gender – fun fact) was the frontwo/man for Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV. S/he also was the founder of the COUM Transmissions art collective  who I’ve written about on here before and a founder of an occult group. Black Rain I’m admittedly not familiar with, but there’s a first time for everything no? From the previews available on YouTube and ANOST, this is a well put-together collaboration with Cold Cave being the guiding hand here. Listen to them all below via the EU buy link and the YouTube stream to see what you think of them. Cheers!

The Details

"Rebellion is Over" was originally released on Heartworm as a limited cassette collaboration between Cold Cave, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (of Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV), and Black Rain (members of Death Comet Crew/Ike Yard) to commemorate the July 22nd live performance in NYC. Available only at the show and sold out immediately, Dais Records presents a new vinyl engagement of "Rebellion is Over", limited to 1000 copies, and containing three unique and singular electronic compositions.
