Is post-house a thing? Can it be a thing? Is it ok to have another “post-” genre? ADAD’s (possible debut release) No A/C will make you ask these questions and more. While it may be a bit too brief for your liking, it makes sure not to overstay its welcome. The intro track “Drugs Not Hugs” reminds me, in some ways, of AtomTM’s anti-pop anthem “Ich Bin Meine Maschine.” “No A/C” takes a dive in to dub techno territory, and it’s much more woozy than what I’m used to hearing in dub techno. The drum machines gently pitter patter along the dub waves. It reminds me of The Juan MacLean’s one-off dub techno track “Deviant Device.” The latter two tracks are dubs (as the tracks denote…) run through plenty of filters and delay types. Just like the compositions you will find within the tape, the cassette’s design is bleak – just black matte over a clear cartridge. One last thing to note – it’s only $5. Listen to No A/C below via the Bandcamp player and see what you think of it. Cheers!
