He/aT is a relatively new name on the scene and hard-hitting techno is his (or her) forte. He/aT’s first release A Death in the Family EP, which was also limited to 500 units, sold out quickly.¬†Apparently, he (or she) is an “established UK producer” – are there any guesses as to who this mystery producer could be? I like it when there’s a bit of mystery in our modern age of infinite and vast knowledge that can be acquired through the internet and books. A question, I find, is more valuable than an answer. Perhaps the “established UK producer” bit is just a front and He/aT is truly a newcomer… anyway, this EP is solid.

A Terrible Misunderstanding gives us four tracks of fantastic techno that could fit within the genre’s 90s heyday and each of these will put your mind right in to the nightclub with its raucous and rolling bass, especially the third track “We Made Our Excuses and Left” – no one in their right mind would want to leave while this track plays though. “For The High Jump,” the last track, just keeps delivering the multifarious bass and pulsing synth lines and it really ends this A Terrible Misunderstanding¬†on a high note – no pun intended. The Details

"A Terrible Misunderstanding EP" contains 4 tracks of fresh, raw, bass-heavy techno as tempered and toughened as it is controlled, as melodic as it is intricate. This EP continues to build upon the rich history of proper techno from middle England, and also unfolds the next chapter in the rise of He/aT...
