Somewhere along¬†the shores of Long Beach, there’s a small group of dissentients called The Doggerels, and when they’re not scaring off tourists,¬†they’re playing the damn blues.
Twenty Dollar Bill glides on a¬†sparse fist-pounding back beat as vocalist/femme fatale Cat Chambers fills the space with her sultry guttural wail¬†and¬†Christian Vannasdall¬†riffs the blues raw. ¬†It’s mean, it’s tough and it’s gonna leave a rash. ¬†Imagine The Dead Weather with no studio and nothing to lose. ¬†There’s no gimmicks here, no myths, no polish. ¬†The Doggerels have something that you can’t learn from a¬†blues guitar lesson on Youtube. ¬†Bollocks.
Fans of Allison Mosshart, Nico Vega, The Black Angels and the century-old blues from the Mississippi Delta will find something to soothe their ailments here. ¬†Only 25 of the 40 lathes Shed House Recordings have produced¬†are available to purchase after the ‘buy’ link.
