RIYL: The Murlocs / OCS / Peoples Temple / White Fence / Laurie Shaw
Label: Baby Carrot Records
Great news! Baby Carrot Records decided to do a 2nd run of this gem after the first batch sold out.
This round consists of 50 copies pressed on White w/Purple Splatter Vinyl (“Plumeria Purple”), and the cover is full color based on the original painting (by the band’s great grandmother Rosalie Triplet).
PS! The Brothers are back in the bedroom (studio) working on their 4th album as I type, and a new single is to be expected pretty soon!
Oh man, do I have a soft spot for these cats. Ruk’u Yaya marks Longbeach, CA-based J. Burd‘s 3rd release, and after streaming it constantly for the last weeks I’m pleased to say it might be their finest effort yet! The bluesy bedroom garage/psych found within simply shows qualities on so many levels..Their playful approach shines throughout their clever arrangements, with soulful twists and turns to be found within every track. Instantly hummable melodies, but with layers and surprises that just keeps on growing on you every time you give them a spin. Mark my words, these guys will keep dropping gems for years to come, and keep gaining recognicion at that. Bravo!
