Right off the bat, after pressing play on Wooden Temple, I’m reminded of the extremely underrated ambient trio KILN and to an extent, The Caretaker and Huerco S. As Space & Sound makes note of, Wooden Temple is filled with brooding mood & texture. Wooden Temple might allude to a hulking tree, the forest as a whole or, hey, it might not mean anything at all. As I listen to this, I can’t help but envision myself walking around a misty forest at dawn. The clouds have all but consumed the blue sky, yet there’s a blue haze. The mist floats down to the rich soil and on top of your head endlessly – the water’s not too hot and not too cold. The crackling heard throughout the tape just reinforces this forest I’m envisioning, by giving the imaginary branches I traipse on a “voice.” Anyway, what you get for $7 is this extremely limited tape, a koozie, stickers and a digital copy for download. Sounds like a good deal to me. Listen to Wooden Temple below via the Soundcloud player and see what you think of it. Cheers!

The Details

For our third release, SS003, we are proud to have S&S's very own Vezzen with his ambient album, Wooden Temple. Mostly devoid of his characteristic slaps, Wooden Temple still bumps with brooding mood and texture.
