RIYL: kosmische journeys through outer worlds and inner space
Label: Behind The Sky Music
Portals has been described as “a love song to unabashedly melodic analog synthesizer music of cosmic proportions and the utopian science fiction of the 70s.” Now if that doesn’t sell you right there, I don’t know what will. Compiling synth legends like Steve Roach, Ian Boddy and Steve Moore and marrying them with newer electronic wizards like d’Voxx, Polypores and Listening Center, the Palm Springs-based label Behind the Sky has created something truly immersive and visceral. Every sci-fi blip, every warm analog lead and every steady pulsating build works together to create a soundtrack for our future, be it a cannibalistic dystopia on a scorched and water-dry Earth or a rich, bustling ecosystem on Mars. Either way, it works.
Fans of Alessandro Cortini, Pye Corner Audio and classic sci-fi soundtracks like Blade Runner will love this compilation with all their being. I have a gut feeling that this one is going to be a coveted vinyl grail in the distant future, so listen intently to all 3 available tracks below and grab a copy of the gorgeous splatter vinyl after the ‘buy’ link.
