Music.  It’s the only legal drug out there that’s worth a damn.  Manchester electronic ambient artist Synkro concocts phonic barbiturates in the form of cavernous, droned-out synth textures and soul-stirring field recordings.  Distant sounds of crickets and trees blowing in the breeze are married with thick downtempo beats and blankets of soft, pillowy vocals soaked in reverb.  If there was an aural equivalent to the feeling of sinking into a deep, dark and warm ocean, Changes is your match.

If you’re a fan of Burial’s mellower side and the albums coming out of Ninja Tune, you’ll find some comfort here.  While most of the package deals have sold out, limited white vinyl copies still remain on Synkro’s bandcamp.  This one is shipping from the UK, so all you yanks…expect a higher price tag on this one.  Even so, it’s still less than a bottle of prescription-strength sedatives, and you can’t OD on vinyl.  Or can you?
