Music. ¬†It’s the only legal drug out there that’s worth a damn. ¬†Manchester electronic ambient artist Synkro concocts¬†phonic barbiturates in the form of cavernous, droned-out synth textures and soul-stirring field recordings. ¬†Distant sounds of crickets and trees blowing in the breeze are married with thick downtempo beats and blankets of soft, pillowy vocals soaked in reverb. ¬†If there was an aural equivalent to the feeling of sinking into a deep, dark and warm ocean, Changes is your match.
If you’re a fan of Burial’s mellower side and the albums¬†coming out of Ninja Tune, you’ll find some comfort here. ¬†While most of the package deals have sold out, limited white vinyl copies still remain on Synkro’s bandcamp. ¬†This one is shipping from the UK, so all you yanks…expect a higher price tag on this one. ¬†Even so, it’s still less than a bottle of prescription-strength sedatives, and you can’t OD on vinyl. ¬†Or can you?
